He completed his medical school at Services Institute of Medical Sciences Lahore being one of the best graduates of his class , followed by internship at Services Hospital Lahore.
He did his General surgery training at Services Hospital Lahore in a very busy and high-volume center and aced his FCPS Surgery Exam.
Later he served in the capacity of Senior Registrar at Sharif Medical City Hospital, Lahore.
He further joined Shaukat Khanam Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center for a Second fellowship in Surgical Oncology and later did his second FCPS in the same subject From the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.
He has memberships of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
He continued his passion in the field of Surgery and joined Lahore General Hospital as Senior Registrar and was shortly promoted to Regular Assistant Professor in early 2021, having the honor of being one of the youngest regular Assistant professors in surgery in Pakistan.
He is the General Secretary of the Surgical Oncology Society of Pakistan.
He has a dedicated interest in Surgical Oncology and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery. He has now focused himself on complex and re current cases and receive a referral from all over Pakistan and abroad frequently.
His areas of expertise include complex and recurrent (redo) cases. He is apt at the management of upper and lower gastrointestinal malignancies by minimally invasive approach, Retroperitoneal sarcomas, Thyroid malignancies, breast cancers, gynecological cancers, complex pelvic malignancies, retroperitoneal lymph node dissections, and peripheral sarcomas. He is also expert in general surgical operations such as gall bladder, appendix, hernia etc.
He is an author of 30+ international and national research articles and took part in international collaborative trials.
He is a mentor to many residents and young budding surgeons.
Dr. Jamal represents Pakistan in the management of complex surgical oncology cases and has a vision for developing international collaboration for the better training of surgeons.
